Kofukuji Temple, the head temple of the Hoso sect of Buddhism, is located in Noboruoji-cho, Nara City and is one of the seven largest temples in the southern capital. The five-story pagoda in the distance is second in height only to the five-story pagoda at Toji Temple in Kyoto. The quiet pond in the foreground is Sarusawa Pond, which softly evokes the atmosphere of the ancient capital Nara.
